2023 Dormilona Limited Edition Print
If you don’t follow my Instagram profile for my illustration work, every year for the last 10 years (whoah) I have been working closely with a fantastic independent wine maker in Margaret River, WA called Dormilona.
They take a minimal intervention approach to their process and make some delicious wines, all of which I’ve tried. It’s always fun to working with them on new labels, and over the years we’ve stacked up quite a fair bit of artwork together!
To celebrate this milestone, I’ll be making a print edition of the label, too.
Available from Dormilona, this edition of 50 giclee prints is:
- A4 (210x297mm) in size
- Printed on a premium 310gsm, 100% cotton textured rag paper
- Signed, numbered, slipped into a backed clear pouch and sealed with a juicy wine kiss
Or if you just want the wine – grab a bottle of the latest vintage from their online store.
Limited Edition Prints
Whoop! I’ve produced some limited edition prints working in collaboration with Dormilona and Onstone to round out another year.
Each one is printed on a ceramic substrate, and framed with up-cycled wood sourced and assembled in Victoria, Australia by Onstone.
So if you’re keen to grab one, just visit the Dormilona site, strictly limited numbers of these 21 x 21cm pieces area available.
Upgrades…
Had some good times with Uncle Friendly working on a robot illustration for Optus’ latest TV spot for the iPhone11. You can check out the 1 minute directors cut of the ad above, and the rest of Uncle Friendly’s portfolio on his Vimeo here.
And here is the final artwork for your viewing pleasure. And yep. That’s a stackhat 80’s kiddos.
Local Yokel
My friends at Dormilona recently asked me to help out with their latest project – Yokel. Which is sourcing grapes from the Swan Valley region north-east of Perth.
With a new line up of juicy grenache, verdohlo, rose and a pet nat, it’s also helping preserve the local flora and fauna – and it’s why I was commissioned to come up with their new dapper turtle mascot.
For every bottle on Yokel wine sold, $1 will go back to the preserving and rehabilitating the local environment and contributing to a breeding project for the Western Swamp Tortoise – a native to the region – which has come under threat from agricultural development over the years.
So, enjoy the wine, and know that you’re helping protect this endangered species, too!

Dormilona 2019
The new vintage is out, and with the new vintage I’ve been commissioned to do a new label. It was a toss up between a desert backdrop and a snowy onsen. But Seen as though it was winter when I was doing this one, I guess I preferred the hot bath, and so did Dormilona.
Diemen Awards 2018
The opportunity to put a couple of my illustrations into Tasmania’s creative industry event – The Diemen Awards came up and I’m really pleased to announce that I made the finalists this year. It was great to catch up with some people I hadn’t seen in ages and mingle a bit with the greater creative community here in Hobart. So much talent out there working on big projects. Getting the recognition at this level was really cool too, and it’s lit a fire under my ass/arse/bottom to work a lot harder in 2019. See you next year Diemen!
Mane Liquor
Australia’s number one craft beer bottle shop, Mane Liquor, asked whether I’d be keen to do a poster illustration for their upcoming party in the carpark, and having a soft spot – especially around the mid-section for craft beer (cue moan), I said yes.
The brief was really open and I had free reign to come up with something that suited the beer and wine ethos that the team are so passionate about. So a temple for beer popped in my head and out popped this illustration. Two versions – black and white and watercolour.
These will make their appearance on posters and fliers for the store’s annual party in the carpark this November. So get yourself to Mane Liquor and check out the beers and wines they’ll have on offer there – including something a little special from Dormilona. Stay tuned!
Dormilona 2018
The newest Clayface labels for Dormilona wines are in the wild, and it’s been great to work with Jo on these again. The latest piece mixes fruity flavours with coastal Western Australia. Wine X Life Aquatic. The only thing missing – Portuguese versions of my favourite Bowie songs.
